3.5. An easy quick read, fairly predictable but that was what I was looking for

If you loved The Protector, you will definitely be on board for Leave Me Breathless. JEM will have you smiling at the quirky paint covered shop owner and panting after the hunky, shirtless lumberjack. Or at least I was...

Leave Me Breathless is a second chance romance with an edge of danger, a bit of trepidation, and plenty of paranoia. Ryan may have quit his job but this man is all about protecting. She is his new mission in life.

Maybe 2.5 stars??
I needed something quick and easy, and this book intrigued me so i thought why not?

Suspenseful romance
Single dad
Artist FMC
FMC with secrets
Insta-love and lust
Small town romance

But it was kinda meh..
I had a hard time the first 30% of the book. The characters were boring, and the writing really irritated me. Their conversions were just cringey.
I feel like it got a little bit better, and I really wanted to see how this book would end and what secrets Hannah had, but the writing was still irritating.

And phrases like "Her grin inflates my balls" coming from a 39 year old man are really not it. Please don’t use phrases like that.

Small town romance (read The Protector first) bodyguard falls for woman on the run only he doesn't know it at first. The chemistry between these two is strong but she is struggling to trust anybody. This book is great and reading about the struggle she goes through to trust him with her story is heart wrenching. JEM does a great job with this book.

I’ve been going back and forth about my thoughts and about what to rate this book. While it was better for me than any other book that JEM has written, I didn’t really find anything special about it.

This was a typical story of a woman with a secret and she falls for a man in the town she’s hiding in. While there was the suspense and the angst between the couple, I was still waiting for the story to actually suck me into it. Most of this book was Hannah hiding secrets and the day to day building romance between her and Ryan.

I must say that Ryan is the best love interest that I’ve read from her. Don’t even get me started on Jesse Ward. Ryan was considerate of Hannah, and not just that. He was patient, caring, and was more concerned for her than himself. I love that he was willing to give so much of himself even though he knew she was hiding things.

All in all, I just feel very meh about it. It’s a book that didn't really move me at all and is very forgettable. However, it was the first book I read from here where I didn’t cringe while reading and wasn’t full of toxic love interests.
