I’ve been going back and forth about my thoughts and about what to rate this book. While it was better for me than any other book that JEM has written, I didn’t really find anything special about it.

This was a typical story of a woman with a secret and she falls for a man in the town she’s hiding in. While there was the suspense and the angst between the couple, I was still waiting for the story to actually suck me into it. Most of this book was Hannah hiding secrets and the day to day building romance between her and Ryan.

I must say that Ryan is the best love interest that I’ve read from her. Don’t even get me started on Jesse Ward. Ryan was considerate of Hannah, and not just that. He was patient, caring, and was more concerned for her than himself. I love that he was willing to give so much of himself even though he knew she was hiding things.

All in all, I just feel very meh about it. It’s a book that didn't really move me at all and is very forgettable. However, it was the first book I read from here where I didn’t cringe while reading and wasn’t full of toxic love interests.

TW: domestic abuse

I received an ARC via NetGalley for an honest review.

Thank you to Forever for the free copy of Leave Me Breathless to read and review. This was a story that drew me in right from the very beginning.

Ryan has just returned to town - deciding to stop living an intense life in private security. When he gets there he learns of another newcomer - Hannah - who has opened an art store in town. Hannah is hiding from her past and doesn’t plan to stay long in town. As soon as the two meet sparks fly - the chemistry between them had me drawn in right from the start and I couldn’t wait to see where things went.

There were some parts where I really wished they had communicated better and I didn’t love some parts of the ending - but this was still a great read and I would definitely recommend it if it sounds good to you!

Leave Me Breathless tells the story of Ryan Willis and Hannah Bright from their alternating points of view. Ryan Willis is an ex MI5 and working in protection at the beginning of the book and decides to quit after his final assignment to go back home. Hannah Bright has just moved into a small town an hour outside of London called Hampton. Ryan and Hannah meet after Ryan accidentally runs Hannah over driving down a somewhat deserted street. When they meet they instantly find each other attracted to one another but Hannah is hesitant to get attached to Ryan as she only plans to move to Hampton temporarily and then move on. Hannah seems as though she is running away from something or someone and is scared to get close to anyone. Hannah eventually lets her guard down and opens up about her troubled past but her past may be more trouble than Ryan can handle.

This book has some racy, open door scenes, which Jodi Ellen Malpas is known for. The tone of the book is mostly light but there is a secret that makes circumstances complicated and gives the reader a little bit of an adrenaline rush. It is a classic damsel in distress and here comes Mr. Hunky and Fit who is going to save the day but it's what you want and what you expect in a book like this. At times, the dialogue is corny and there's one character in the book who I had a minor issue with but overall it delivers what its expected to deliver.

Ryan is one sexy swoon worthy book boyfriend that will be your new favorite!
This book was full of surprises.
Hannah & Ryan's story had me angsty on how it was going to end.
It did not disappoint!
And yes you will crave pints of Chunky Monkey Ice cream while reading this book and even after.
Author Jodi Ellen Malpas gives an intense, sexy, gripping story of love being found when you least expect it.
I loved how Hannah is full of life and when Ryan meets her, she brings it out in him. Ryan shows Hannah that feeling protected and loved is possible without there being a motive.
I enjoyed seeing how they both bring out qualities and emotions in each other they never thought were possible.
Steamy, love, mysterious, funny and action packed is all in this must read book!

I was expecting a little bit more suspense and maybe more actions with the “thriller” part of the story. But still loved it. I love the funny parts with Alex, Ryan and Hannah!

Jodi Ellen Malpas is one of my favorite authors! And not surprisingly I did really enjoy and love this book. I like the hold up and the drag out with the blooming and budding relationship with the FMC and MMC. Watching their story come together was very lovely. This book isn’t too spicy which I was surprisingly ok with and was just what was needed in-between the other books that I was reading. I really was looking forward to their being a second book to see the story unfold and continue for the FMC and the MMC, so that is a little let down.
