Vacillated between three and four stars. I loved the first half, from the vampire's perspective. I appreciated how monstrous she was, the horrific nature of her existence, her descriptions of her own many crimes done largely for her own entertainment. I was less enthused by the modern single mom, and even when the vampire returns she is a shell of her former self in the company of her new friend? lover? sister? wife?

I feel like this book really captured me in the beginning and then fell off about halfway through

This was just a bit too gory for me, although I was intrigued by the storyline 🥲 Sorry!

This book was very……ok. While I enjoyed the writing in some parts, I felt the narrative was rushed at some points or there were things that felt a bit unnecessary. I fear that when reading translations of any book, it can be hard to grasp the original meaning of the sentences. Not to discredit the translator, who I think did a really good job, but I felt like there was just a little something missing. I really enjoyed this take on vampires, nothing really groundbreaking, but I did love this bisexual icon. Was really hoping it would be much more sapphic though. The ending left me a little flabbergasted, but in the sense of like why would someone ever do that… I’d be interested to try rereading this but in its original Spanish.
