Was this consistently as good as the novels?
Of course not.

That being said, I thoroughly enjoyed every page, and I can't wait to see the stage production.

Let's be honest here - scripts don't read nearly as well as they play out, but to those calling this "badly written" you're wrong.

Disagree with the plot by all means, but there is a reason for Jack Thorne's success - he is, simply, a terrific playwright.

I was a huge fan of the original Harry Potter series. I was thrilled to learn of this new addition, a continuation of the story with many of the same beloved characters. I like where J.K. Rowling went with the story and the characters. There were twists at every turn, and I was just as captivated with this book as with the original series. I can't wait to see the play! It will be intense, and I will be interested to see how the bring the magic to the stage.

Ok, like, it's not THAT bad, but I think we as a society have moved passed the need for Harry Potter and all it has brought into this world.

Obviously this is written as a play, so that part threw me off for a bit, but the story was great and it made me feel as if I were young reading the originals all over again. It actually made me want to reread the originals! And now I definitely want to go see the play!

I was honestly excited and nervous reading when I picked up this book. But as soon as I started reading, I couldn't stop. it had me constantly trying to guess what was going on , and I absolutely loved the ending. Albus Severus was an awesome character, and I think was the perfect way to portray Harry's youngest son. Well done. I loved it.

It's not perfect, but I enjoyed myself. I wrote a review for The Reformed Library:
