I still very much enjoyed this sequel, but found myself struggling with some of the same areas as the first book. The text appeared repetitive at times, as if the author forgot what had been shared previously. However, I loved the plot and the characters. It was a bit slower to start but kept moving after about page 40 or so.

This book had all of the characters that I loved and I felt like it wrapped up better. I felt the first one had a slightly abrupt ending and this second book helped close some of the loose ends from the first book. I would love a third book because I enjoy Maddy and Baby, but it ended so that there does not necessarily need to be a third. Can't wait to read more by this author.

Cute continuation of the series.
These mysteries are light and fun, but do have their share of murder! In this installment, Maddy is challenged to win a baking contest at the Spring Festival in town. She is trying to make sure that her Aunt Octavia's reputation as an award winner continues, and that the bakery Baby Cakes survives!
Another bakery is going to open and the owner is not a nice man. He ends up dead, with a Baby Cakes knife!
Along with her mastiff, her boyfriend, her unlikely group of friends, she is attempting to stay out of jail while solving the murder. She gets the nickname Nancy Drew, which she doesn't like, but it doesn't stop her! Lots of surprises come to light!

I did really enjoy this book, but I’m disappointed that we didn’t get a true wrap-up. There was a major question left after the end of the first book and there are still many questions remaining. It’s like nothing was really solved.

Thank you Kensington Cozies for a copy of Murder is a Piece of Cake!

"Can young entrepreneur and social media influencer Maddy Montgomery run a bakery, care for a gigantic English mastiff, and cultivate a picture-perfect relationship—all while exposing a murderer?"

Murder is a Piece of Cake (Baker Street Series) is for anyone looking for…
• Cozy mysteries with big personalities
• An adorable, giant dog
• Budding, wholesome romance
• A bakery setting

I read the Baker Street Series earlier this year and what a fun way to start 2024! Maddy is such an endearing character and her big personality makes readers want to root for her. The mystery in the book wasn't simple and there's enough complications in the story to keep readers on hook and left guessing. Overall, the Baker Street Series is easy and enjoyable and left me wanting to try some of Baby Cakes Bakery's cakes and croissants!
