Murder is a Piece of Cake will have readers hitting the ground running for the second murder-mystery that our loveable Maddy has to solve. Or else she or one of her friends will be charged with murder before BabyCake even gets a chance to have its grand reopening. If that isn't enough to worry about Baby has been acting strangely and Maddy isn't sure what is wrong with him.
Book two sees Maddy living a more adjusted and routine life in New Bison. Her friendships are going strong and so is her relationship with Michael, the small town's Vet.
This book offers up a lot of laughs and smiles despite the fact that another murder has taken place with Maddy only being in town 3 months. I am not a criminologist or anything but that kinda math doesn't look favorable for anyone.
Secrets and people of the past seemed to be the driving theme in this book. And there were a number of interesting and exciting things that readers learn in Murder is a Piece of Cake that will count as spoilers. Therefore, I would just like to share that some of the loose ends from book one will reappear in book two. And I suspect that we will continue to see more bread crumbs delivered in the next book as well.
Happy reading.

I didn’t go into this book with the highest hopes, but it didn’t keep my attention as much as I would have liked. Especially in comparison to the first book of the series, “Two Parts Sugar, One apart Murder.”
I think I would have enjoyed the mystery more if the book weren’t so repetitive. A lot of the same quotes and devices were recycled from the first book and even multiple times within the book. I got sick of the references to “the Admiral” and would have liked a little less “romance,” but that’s my own personal distaste of romance themes.
I started tuning this book out at about halfway through and it was all downhill from there. I really wanted to like this book more.
