I've been on this book for over a month and just can't get into it. I loved his previous two books, but I just can't get into this one. I'm putting it back on the shelf for now..... But I will eventually get back to it
Khaled Hosseini is one of those authors who could publish a book and I'll buy it with pretty much zero hesitation. This is the last of his novels that I needed to read and I loved it just as much as I did 'The Kite Runner' and 'A Thousand Splendid Suns.' This was definitely the least emotionally devastating/heavy of the three, but that's not to say the stories weren't still heartbreaking; I still cried at the end, after all. This was an interesting way of structuring the story compared to the other two novels, as you follow individual characters in each chapter, of which there are only nine, and see how their individual lives have gone and intersected with the lives of others. I read this book in two days and my heart was just so full by the end, even if the ending was a little bittersweet. This is such a necessary read, and if you're looking to get into Hosseini's books but are afraid of them being too heavy, this is the perfect one to start with to get a taste of his style and the kind of content you sign up for in his stories.
Usually his books are fantastic, but this one I couldn't bare to finish.

Heartbreakingly beautiful. This is my second Khaled Hosseini book & I can’t wait to read more.
It took me 3 years to finish this book. I read a good bit then put it down and kept picking it back up but never got very. It just wasn’t really grabbing me, or hooking me in...but I made myself finish it this year finally.
I have to admit, I forgot some of the things that happened in the first half of the book once I picked it back up. The writing is great, but there may just have been a few too many things going on here. He did tie them all together but some things seemed to add nothing to the story, like Nila’s interview with the magazine author.
The Kite Runner is one of my favorite books, it was the first book I read that made me cry multiple times. However, this was not on the same level. I couldn’t put that one down. This one wasn’t terrible, it just wasn’t great.
