I loved this much more than Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns. I think the author has become more skillful in working with themes and motifs, keeping the cohesion, and maintaining the level of excellence and attractiveness of the story throughout the book. I also love the very apt title of the book and am sorry that none of the three Farsi translations published in Iran quite grasped the title and its role in representing the form of the narrative. The chapter on Roshi, though superb, didn't seem to me to be as relavent to the rest of the plot and if I were the editor, I would have advised the author to publish it as an independent work rather than as a chapter of this book. That being said, the writer grasps human psychology perfectly, especially when it comes to the sense of guilt, which is nowhere as grandly depicted as in the story of Idris and Roshi.

It's been a while since I gave a book five stars. Everything about it is perfect; the ambience, how it starts slowly and innocently and it grows more twisted and ages with the characters. It has a great flow from character to character, accomplishing its goal of portraying the bigger image and also gets the reader invested in each person's story. It made me laugh, it made me cry, and I would recommend it to everyone.
