This book was captivating from the beginning, maybe because as a nurse I can relate. Nonetheless, I clung on to every word and couldn’t put it down! Love and war, but most important was friendships! Amazing!!!

I found the book interesting, but in the end, I didn't like it as much as I hoped. One big problem was the romance with Frankie. I don't like the cheating and adultery stuff—it felt unnecessary and pulled me away from the story. The romance was also hard to believe and sometimes made me cringe, which distracted me from the book. It seemed like the author added extra drama to Frankie's life, beyond her PTSD, just for the sake of having plot twists, and it made me frustrated.

The book is called The Women, but it's told from only one point of view, which was disappointing. I wanted to hear from other women in the story, like Barb and Ethel. Their POV's would have made the book more interesting and helped me understand the characters better. Sometimes the story moved too quickly, with too many jumps in time, which made it hard to invest in anything Frankie was going through. I  wished the author had focused more on the real lives and stories of the women instead of the romance. More background on characters like Barb and Ethel would have been great.

On the plus side, I did learn a lot about the Vietnam War and other historical facts I didn't know. This helped me appreciate more the women who were often overlooked during that time. Their contributions were important, and it's crucial to recognize their roles and challenges. Unfortunately, as my first book by Kristin Hannah, I was disappointed.

My first Kristin Hannah novel did not disappoint. Rye Walsh sure did.

I fell in love with Frankie from the minute she decided she was leaving, and traveling through this story with her was painful and beautiful. Barb and Ethel are THOSE GIRLS. This was such an amazing read.
