I loved it! Really enjoyed the writing style. Zoë is such a good balance between the more vanilla characters Keira and Mason. Also very much enjoyed the Dane story line. Simply a good book!

I absolutely ADORE this series, but I think this was the best book in the series so far.

The Twisted Dead rejoins Kiera, Mason, Zoe and Daisy as they continue their ghostly quests in Blighty. However, after they each receive a strange note from Dane Crispin inviting them for dinner, things take a strange turn.

I'd usually jump into the characters in a review but we're all familiar with the trio. However, Zoe is particularly loveable in this book. She's such a caricature character and I want a best friend like that in my life.

We find out a lot more about Kiera's past as well, which was something I was DYING for in previous books. But it leaves us on just enough of a cliffhanger to keep us hooked.

The Twisted Dead and the Gravekeeper series in general is, what I like to call, Cosy Horror. There's some tense moments, but overall it's a pretty cosy read with low stakes and I feel like it's Scooby Doo for adults

I have so many feelings after this one, all good feelings though. This one delivered a lot more information on Keira's past life and her abilities. I'm so invested in this series and can't wait to see what happens next!

Keira is back and ready to eff up some ghosts! The Twisted Dead is the third book in the Gatekeeper series and probably my favorite so far. You need ghosts? Got that.
Need the slowest burning romance in all of space and time? Definitely there.
The best part? The inability to put this book anywhere close to down. All three Gravekeeper books have been the same in that you can’t stop reading. Granted, the beginning parts in the first novel I wasn’t sure about, but that was a minor issue in the grand scheme of things.

The thing I love most about reading a Darcy Coates book is that they are typically more cozy mystery/horror. Sometimes you need a break from all the heavy everywhere, and Coates provides this through her writing. The book forgoes a lot of the romance, too. I kind of find it refreshing that a main female character isn’t just a love interest, but more her own entity.

It’s four stars from me. I’ll be waiting (semi) patiently to catch up with Keira, Zoe, and Mason on their wacky ghost quest.

The Twisted Dead is releasing on February 7th, 2023. Huge thanks to Poisoned Pen Press, Edelweiss+, and Darcy Coates for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I do enjoy Darcy Coates’ writing and who doesn’t like a good slow burn romance? I especially love the super slow burns, eat that shit up. Is there such a thing as a cozy horror? Cause this is pretty much that. I enjoyed the storyline, the characters, the atmosphere. This felt like the kind of story I could read on a cold night, wrapped in a blanket, with a cold cup of coffee. Thoroughly enjoyed it, though it is not perfect. I can see some instances where readers may lose interest here and there. If you’re going in for a romance in the forefront, that is not the case. It’s part of what allows the book series to be so slow burn and I personally enjoy that, but not everyone will.
