Knowing what the villains of this series are doing now is like. The most horrifying thing.
I’m enjoying the Gravekeeper books so much, and The Twisted Dead is another wonderfully cozy horror addition.
In the third book, Keira and her friends Zoe and Mason are invited to dinner at his creeptastic mansion by local recluse Dane Crispin. Dane has heard about Keira’s ability to see ghosts, and he believes his ancestral home is haunted.
What Keira sees in Dane’s home sets her on a mission to learn more about herself, her powers, and the mysterious company trying to kill her.
Keira and her friends are as hilarious and sweet as in the previous books, and I loved getting more glimpses of how ghosts work in this world. This book is a bit heavier on action than on the creepiness, and it’s a fast-paced, fun read.
The author gives enough information that this book can be read without the first two, but I do recommend reading the whole series.
Thank you to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for my review copy of this book.

I love the series and can't wait for the next! My only issue is how annoying and exhausting Zoe is.
Book 3 in the gravekeeper series! Wow! I love these so so much! Are they ground braking or the most unique thing in the world, no. But they are so incredibly fun and entertaining and so easy to read.
I love this group of friends so much and how they really put their trust in each other. Kiera is awesome and wholesome. I’m having so much fun reading this series I’ve ever bought all the physical books for my shelves. I can’t wait to read book 4 which will be happening very very soon

Okay when I picked this one up, I was unsure what I was getting into as it was described as a cozy horror book. I had no clue what that meant. If you’re old enough to remember the movie Casper – it is just like that.
Keira is just trying to live a normal life as a graveyard undertaker. Problem is she can see ghosts and spirits and they are everywhere. One night she receives an invitation to the local reclus’s estate, and when she arrives, she is shocked at what she finds. The spirits are eating him alive. Keira sets off to try to sever the ties between the living and the dead and freeing her new friend in the meantime. Will she succeed or will she and everyone else be in danger?
This was the third book in the series, but I didn’t feel like it had to be read in order – it stood on its own nicely. Overall, I would say if you have read any other of the authors books and enjoyed them – then you will likely enjoy this one as well. The book is very atmospheric, and you do feel transported into the characters world – but I learned that cozy books are just not for me. I enjoy a little more depth to my books. This was a lovely comforting way to end the spooky month of October.
This one is out Feb 7th of next year so give it a shot if you’re in for a cozy horror book. Thank you to @netgalley and the publisher, @poisonedpenpress for my advanced e-arc in exchange for this honest review.

Kiera is mulling over the revelation she had in book two about local bully, Gavin. Then, Dane Crispin requests her help with a ghost problem. When Kiera gets a sense of the size of the infestation, she is determined to help Dane, especially once she realizes what is at the root of his misanthropic behaviour.
Kiera works with one of the ghosts in her graveyard to find a way to deal with the nasty ghosts in Crispin manor, but though she has a sense of what is needed, can't provide Dane with any relief.
Meanwhile, Mason finally divulges what sent him away from medical school, and of course Zoe immediately says they must return to the school to deal with the situation there.
And things wouldn't be complete without Artec making an appearance and sending the trio on the run after Kiera discovers some of what Artec is up to and why they want to eliminate her.
So, lots going on in this installment! There is no shortage of danger, malevolent ghosts and people threatening Kiera's tiny bit of safety in Blighty. We get some more funny Harry moments, which are always welcome. And the best part of this series, the friendship amongst Kiera, Zoe and Mason, is on display through
-a tense dinner with Dane, and
-a road trip arguing about what tunes to play and which snacks to eat.
But more critically,
-helping Mason's deal with his shame about why he left school abruptly, and
-evading the clutches of the persistent and well-armed Artec security force.
Between Mason's straight guy persona and willingness to patch up injuries, Zoe's conspiracy theorizing and ebullience, Kiera has two people who believe in her and stick by her, no matter how scared they all are. Then there's dear Daisy, also making sure Kiera is well.
I like Darcy Coates' mix of horror and humour in this series, and looking at how this book ended, I am looking forward to more ghost action and deepening friendship in what I hope is a book four coming.

This series would make a fantastic TV show and I would watch it all in one sitting.
