Fantastic. This book is so good I even cried during the Acknowledgments.

This was a very moving and inspiring story about a woman and how a father’s actions affects and structured a girl’s life and womanhood. I am in awe of what she overcame.

I was absolutely engrossed in this book. Sinclair is a gorgeous writer who characterizes each of her family members so well and I learned so much about Rastafarianism. The one critique was that it was just a little long and while she spent 75% of the book in her childhood and adolescence she omitted a lot of her adjustment to America and college experience and balance between the different phases of her life would have really rounded out her story
