So this felt LONG and I do think a few scenes could have been cut and it wouldn't really have effected much, especially ones with previous Assassin's in it because yes it's great to see them and yes they are part of their lives but it didn't add much to the story of these two because it was a whole lot of reintroducing them, and not much happened.

That being said, I fucking loved this one. Benji is amazing, I'm glad Mr. Sinclair got a bit of redemption in this one because while he did shit all over their family I hurt to see Lucy say she did everything to make Annie happy but couldn't get past her hurt so she shut her dad out of his life. Seeing Angie light up seeing her grandpa was a little painful for me to see because my own dad holds grudges and closed off our lives from our whole family and while personally I don't mind because I'm a hermit, it still would have been nice to have the choice.

Anyway, it was super romantic and Lucy's still a snarky thing which got on my nerves but probably because I'm a little like that. Angie was super cute, Rick was still a dick just 100x worse by the end, and I really wish his wife wasn't a shithead too it's probably all I would have liked to see different but they're all bad eggs. Also that scene where Heidi tells her she's pregnant? Dramatic much? Girl this ain't tv. They're all just spiteful. So in the end I'm not feeling sorry for them and I don't mind.

Now off to read my arc of the next book!

I really loved this book, it was sweet, funny, hot, emotional and at times a little heartbreaking, but totally worth staying up very late and reading.

This is definitely up there with my favourites in this series, and Benji has turned into some serious competition to Shea and Tate as my favourite Assassin! Plus I always loved reading about Lucy in the Bellevue Bullies series, so was excited to read more about her and her little girl Angie and they really didn't disappoint.

This has also made me want to go back to the beginning and reread the entire series, including the two previous stories that I've not even read. As for this one it is definitely worth reading, especially for any fan of the series or even the Bellevue Bullies trilogy as your treated to plenty more of the three gorgeous and crazy Sinclair brothers. I'd even suggest this as a standalone as all characters featured have their relationships to each other explained. So you won't be left confused or feel like your missing anything, just kicking yourself for not reading this series sooner.

First, I am truly honored (and went extremely fan girl) to receive this as an advanced reader copy!

Lucy and Benji are by far my new favorite characters. Lucy has a beautiful little girl named Angie and a jerk of an ex-husband. (Seriously, wanted to smack him!) Benji is a recovering alcoholic trying to overcome a family tragedy.

I don't want to give any part of the storyline away, because it's that good! It the best book in the series!

I am having a hard time enjoying this series the way I liked it before.

I relistened to a few of the first books and enjoyed them, but I forgot about the drama for the sake of drama.
I wanted to catch up on the series so I listened to 3 -6 hours of the other books so I had all the characters fresh in my head when I started this book.

Overall this book was good but the drama of Lucy’s ex and how he manipulated his daughter and all the pedophile stuff just left a bad taste in my mouth. Like did we really need all that? No the story stood alone without all that.

I just don’t understand how every character has to have this tragic past or they can’t co-parent, I wonder if it’s just for the drama.

I am going to keep going with the series because I really want to finish it.

The narration was ok. She just sounds older than these characters though.

I don't know if I am more disappointed in the book or me for not liking it. I cant help but feel the church was being forced down my throat....

I get benji finding faith when needed help but some other comments (judge was then last straw) were just too much for a book which is supposed to a romance novel....

description

I've read and loved other books by Toni Aleo, but this is the first hockey book of hers I've read. It was a bit of a slow start for me (maybe because it was told in third person and sometimes it can take me a bit to get into it?), but after the first few chapters I became addicted to this book. I initially wanted to read this because it had a single mother as a main character. I especially love it when there's a child as a main character. It gives the story extra heart, and to see the hero or heroine fall in love with their significant other as well as the child melts my heart.

I was confused at times because there was quite a few characters introduced that it was hard to keep track as well as the heroine's brothers since all of their names started with a J. I think if I read all the previous books in this series it would've been easier for me to follow along. The book was also quite long from the books I normally read, but I wouldn't change a thing. I enjoyed seeing Benji and Lucy's relationship slowly blossom into something great.

Now the characters. I thought Lucy was hilarious. Especially whenever she was around her family members, specifically her brothers (I laughed out loud at those moments). She was incredibly strong and stubborn with a wall built up around her since her divorce. Her daughter the only one who can make her truly happy. Then enters a hot nerd hockey player Benji, who has an immediate connection with Lucy and her daughter. He was incredibly swoon worthy in everything he did towards the girls. The ultimate book boyfriend. Lucy's daughter was so adorable that I had a permanent smile on my face whenever she was present. Lucy's ex husband I wanted to physically harm him. I hated HATED him. I'm sure I wasn't the only one.

After reading this one I'm definitely going to read the other books in this series.

This novel had all the things that I enjoy, single and damaged people, children, sports and romance. Lucy Sinclair had a ten-year-old Angie and she was struggling. Her heart has been so damaged by the men she chose to be in relationships with, that Lucy was jaded and bitter. When Lucy signs Angie up for Hockey, she wasn’t prepared for the gorgeous Hockey coach who was substituting for Lucy’s brother.

Benji Paxton agreed to teach hockey as a favor for Lucy’s brother, and had been warned that Lucy was hostile and cankerous. But Benji knew it was a veneer hiding a hurt heart. He would know since he has been there. Benji’s past was sad but it was satisfying to know he waded through the muddy water and came out somewhat clean. So Benji set out to find the woman hidden behind all that all of protection.
I have to say that I enjoyed this story despite the narrator. Maybe it was a language thing, but I hated the way the narrator said “Bin-ji” instead of “Ben-ji”. Also, other words gave me a pause. The author really took her time to lay foundation for this romance because both characters were quite damaged. It took work to really like Lucy because she was just mean and vicious. It made me like Benji that much more as he was patient and persistent. I am a sucker for men who are able to love kids that aren’t their own biological offspring. Benji put in work and eventually built up trust with Lucy and Angie. Lucy was so hard to get close to and she didn’t even let her family in because of her anger, hurt and general wounded heart. Regardless, her family stood by her and supported her.
I felt the drama with Lucy and her ex-husband Rick was quite realistic, but it was still really hard to watch unfold. I wish Lucy went to some kind of counseling because she made everyone around her walk on eggshells. I do commend her for always keeping her daughter the main priority. The growth that Lucy displayed as this story progressed. I appreciate the character development and how Benji and Lucy came together as a couple. This was an enjoyable audiobook.

Oh my goodness I absolutely loved this book! I rarely like books when one of the mc's has a dead ex, but it truly didn't bother me in this book. Half the time, I forgot there even was a dead ex. I feel that even when the H said he would always love his ex and his daughter, the h and her daughter were never second best. It was very well done, in my opinion. I adored both the H and the h, especially the H ;) and the way Benji was with Angie was so cute. Ahh I just loved this book!

It is no secret that I adore hockey. I adore hockey books, hockey movies etc etc etc

And I am absolutely and irrevocably in love with the Assassins series.

Is it really already book 8 in this series? And in my opinion, it has gotten better each and every book.

Rushing The Goal is Lucy Sinclair (sister of the Sinclair boys from the Bellevue Bullies books) and Assassin Benji.

Oh how I love Benji right from the very first word. I just couldn't wait for what would happen with him next.

Lucy, well she is a different kettle of fish. I like her but she was quite a prickly character to begin with - though as the story continues I could completely understand why and in the end adored her even more because of it.

But when they got together - my heart just exploded. They are both so terribly mistrusting and broken, and to see the walls around their hearts disintegrate was lovely.

There are so many funny, sweet, sexy and poignant moments in this book. I didn't want to put it down.

But there were also points where I just wanted it to be over - not because I didn't like the story, not at all. It was all because of one particular character and his actions.

I very rarely have such a visceral reaction to a character, but OMG this guy Rick made me so angry. I wanted to throw my kindle across the room. My body physically stiffened with anger as he came into play. I wanted to crawl into my kindle and nut punch him! I wanted the story to be over so that he would be out of it and our lovelies could make their way off into the sunset.

Then there is the little scene stealer Angie - Lucy's daughter. There is not one thing to not love about her. She is like a 40 year old woman in a 7 year old's body. But with all the pure innocence of a child.

I loved that we got more of the Assassins from the previous books and their families. I feel like over the years that they have become part of my extended family, and I wanted, needed to know a little bit more about them all.

I can only hope that we get more in the future.
