More poignant that things I've previously read from him. The few essays I found funny were REALLY funny. I remember laughing more the last time I read him, but I was a lot younger then so it may just be me.
Hilarious for the first three stories, flailing after that.
Hard writing a review and leaving a rating when I've read so many of his other books that I ended up being familiar with 95% of the stories in here.

Simultaneously hilarious and devastating. I laughed and cried more than I have at a book in years.
3.5 stars rounded up- basically David Sedaris’s book version of a greatest hits tour. If you want to try getting into audiobooks, I would definitely recommend trying one of his.
I dunno what I’m supposed to say other than I’ll read gluttonously whatever David Sedaris writes. This one is full of stories of his family, when young and old. Some short stories in the mix that are easy to mull on too.
He’s master at making the human experience relatable. It’s funny, awkward, a little dark but yeah….I’m never not going to recommend David Sedaris.
It’s funny though, I’m not sure if it’s because I went to see him speak and he read some stories out of this book but I read a lot of this in his voice in my head.
Give it a read!

This is the David Sedaris I know and love! Some of his more recent stuff has been more miss than hit for me, but this collection that spans his life was just perfect. Funny, poignant, vulnerable - it's classic David Sedaris. I listened to the audiobook as I do with all his books and the interview at the end was delightful. This made me really want to see him in person again.

I have always been a fan of this author, except when he writes fiction. [b:Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk|7857195|Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk|David Sedaris|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1279831428l/7857195._SX50_.jpg|10995406] is still hands down one if the most disappointing books I have read by him.
BUT when he writes about his life, his family, and his little obsessions I cannot help but smile and at times laugh out loud.
This is a compilation of his best work through the years and, unfortunately for me, it also included some of his fictional stories. But luckily most of this compilation consist of essays about his family mixed with a few stand-up comedy recordings.
There is also a really good interview with the author at the end which I found very insightful.
If you are a fan of David Sedaris reading this will be a no brainer and if you have ever heard him narrate his own stories you will know why you must get this on audio.
A good choice for the end of the year when you need to escape into laughter.

Brilliant. As always. Just what 2020 needed. I feel like I can breathe again.
