I picked this up after a tour of the Globe Theatre, London. The tour was so interesting and had me wanting to read Shakespeare! But the difficulty of the language put me off, and so this was a great little read to try and get used to Shakespearean language, because I already knew the story!
Ultimately a fun read, though still difficult, so I’m not sure if I’ll be venturing into Shakespeare any time soon haha!

The only thing in life I love more than wine is books, but Shakespeare and Mean Girls are both quite high on my list as well. Having both combined is a fantastic treat, and I love the fact that it feels performance-ready. Though the translation isn't always flawless, the overall experience is a delightful one that I recommend to anyone whose passions include the Plastics and the Bard.
A fun adaptation of Mean Girls set in Shakespearean prose. I listed to the audiobook, and had a really enjoyable time envisioning this cult classic in the time of Shakespeare. As I was listening I kept wondering if the author had gone far enough in the adaptation. There were several instance where the contemporary jokes didn't quite land in iambic pentameter, and I thought maybe the author should have adapted further to bring the joke into the time period he was writing from. Pantaloons or petticoats instead of "army pants" and slippers instead of "flip flops" is one that comes to mind. Overall the book was enjoyable, and it would be fun to actually watch as a play.

I love the movie Mean Girls, and after listening to so many of Ian Doescher’s Star Wars adaptations, i was really excited to listen to this one. Although the references were as clever as always, and the writing smart, I’m just not sure this story fits the Shakespeare treatment as well as Star Wars does. Some of the modern terminology felt really out of place, and it was slightly more awkward overall. It was still a fun listen, but not mind blowing.
This was a lot better than I thought it would be. I pride myself an my ability to avoid Shakespeare in literary courses and such. I did like this book. I think anyone who enjoyed the movie will enjoy this. It is full of direct quotes and important moments. I am surprised by how much I enjoyed this quick little read.
By my troth, a book I've not seen before.
A twist upon my teenage film int'rests
With good humor and wit it doth adorn
My senses and pleaseth me so, I say
Do pick up this good book of Sir Doescher
And enjoy the Plastics in this new form!
