The plot of Mean Girls really doesn't work as a Shakespearean comedy, but it is fun to see them try.

She doth not even go here! What a delight. Lots of fun nods at classic Shakespeare with a modern spin.

So last year, I reviewed the novelization of Mean Girls and it was pretty lackluster since it was just a rehash of the movie and didn’t give anything new.
Ian Doescher has been a regular on this page since the beginning and has done a great job with the Star Wars Shakespeare books and this book is no different. Yes, the plot is the same as the movie, but here we see all the characters’ thought process and even some scenes that fill the gaps the movie left. The movie covered themes such as love, betrayal, comedy, and social hierarchy. Much of Shakespeare’s works cover the same thing. If you’re a fan, check it out. Gives a new spin on your favorite scenes.

I loved this funny retelling of Mean Girls with a Shakespearean twist! I loved all the quotes from his plays thrown in — it was a super fun read! Very fetch!
