I really wanted to love every part of the book but it just didn’t strum my heartstrings like I thought it would. Like I thought I would really resonate with Will as a post/ex-evangelical. I thought those reflections were quite on point but I just didn’t connect with him or any of the cast of crazies. I was really sad about the unrequited love and about the pull of the cult. But other than that, even the Phoebe character felt distant to me. Storytelling didn’t captivate me but I kept going bc I like RO Kwon and really expected to love her work. I’m still really psyched to read KINK and EXHIBIT though!
