Should be required reading for any American thinking about buying a house. Each chapter does a great job using the experiences of Americans who’ve been subjected to the worst of climate change’s impacts in the US to both tell their specific story and zoom out and talk about the looming impacts yet to come and their knock on effects. One of my top ten books about climate easily.

If there’s any book on climate change people should read it’s definitely this one. Often people see environmental issues as unimportant until a natural disaster comes to impact them or loved ones directly, this book shows the reality of that with a number of personal stories of people faced with displacement due to wildfires, flooding, and scarce water access.

A bit slow at times just because it’s very similar stories over and over but it is a poignant discussion on how we are truly unprepared for the impacts of climate change.
