Listen, I've been on this side of literature for quite a long time, and Omegaverse just seems to scratch a part of my brain that I had no idea was itching.
But it has a few requirements that can make them amazing or just another book. And this book filled those.
This book is a well crafted high fantasy romance with dragons and AOB dynamics.
After the awakening of the true King of Maledin, the world must learn how to co-exist with Dragons and the native Maledians.
The Maledin people have been locked inside a mountain for 500 years and as they reemerge so does the designations. Designations for the Alphas, Omegas and Betas.

Izavelle is at the end of her life when she is quite literally swiped off her feet into the saddle of a dragon by Zabriel.
Zabriel is none other than the true ruler of Maledin. And the Alpha to her Omega.
The world learned to live without designations and dragons, and this new reality will put a lot of people to test. But the most important test will be for Zabriel: to win the Heart, Body and Soul of his Mate.
Someone should have warned me that Omegas could be so stubborn.

I love how the author avoided instant love and instant lust. Probably what sets this book apart is the slow-burn. It's unusual to read an Omegaverse where the mated pair isn't jumping into each other right from the first few chapter. The slow burn here is well explored, making us know most about the characters before they become an item
Zabriel is how every alpha should be. Possessive and protective with the perfect amount of controlling.
Izavelle on the other hand had only endured pain and suffering for the past year and I loved watvhing her bloom and come out of her shell.

I open my eyes and see the way her cheeks are flushed red again from my praise.

Don't worry, you won't feel deprived :D. The push and pull, the flirting and the praise more than make up for the lack of action in this slow burn. And when it finally catches fire, it burns brightly.
Like I said before, this book sets itself apart by having a complex plot (No shade to other books without a plot; I love them a lot, more than sanely possible IYKWIM) nut once in a while it just feels good to read something complex and this one ticked that box.
There are dangers on the horizon and the mystery behind it adds to the book.
But lets not forget about the dragons. I love how the author made them as important as the main characters. You quickly realize that they are not only for show.

PS: we also get a primal chase at the back of a dragon

Thank you to the author and Give Me books PR for gifting me the eARC in exchange for a honest review.

Jesus Christ, JAYSUS CHRIST, I loved this book. Instantly sold. Selling my soul to the author and howling to the moon. There wasn’t a single aspect I didn’t like about this book. I LOVED EVERY SECOND. BARK BARK BARK

Loved the plot and the world building! And of course the dragons! Plot twists! Dialogue was a bit cringey… but otherwise great!

Third time reading this book, and I still stand my point: this book is an absolute masterpiece. Easy to read, great character building, good world building, and the fantasy things are easy to understand
Plot or Character Driven: Character

Glad I switched from the ebook to the audiobook; I don't think I would've finished the story otherwise.
Liked: Zabriel was devoted to Isavelle and focused on her well-being over his.
Disliked: Isavelle had little to no character development. She would make the same poor decisions over and over. And after learning she was an omega and realizing that Zabriel wouldn't, or couldn't, explain designations to her, she took no initiative in learning more about her nature and place in society.
Honorable mention: Lots of praise.

“Blood and dragon piss. You’re tied up?” Did he think I was eager to be flung atop a burning pyre?

This was my first omegaverse (after having read a bunch of books that used elements, but weren't fully omegaverse) and boy did I have a great time.
