This book is poorly written and has very little info about Grohl. The first half of the book hardly mentions him at all and is filled with way too many details about punk bands that have nothing to do with Dave, Foo Fighters, Nirvana or any of his other bands. The second half talks about things that any casual fan of FF/Nirvana would already know. Don't waste your time.

It took me quite a while to get into this book, which is why it took me so long to finish it. But once I got to the Nirvana and Foo Fighters sections, I really got interested and I really enjoyed reading this.

Nothing new about Grohl himself, but I did give it three stars purely for the immersion into the times, sounds and world that Grohl inhabited. I found it interesting, but not what I was expecting or wanting.

Awesome read. It's more than just about the Foo Fighters or Nirvana. It's about who Dave is and where he came from.

A comprehensive look at the life of Dave Grohl and the music scenes he iss a part of, told with a journalists understanding of how to keep a reader engaged. A great overview of the various genres that make up the rock experience, and a great pair to Grohl's Sonic Highways series for HBO.

Too much extraneous information, just couldn't stick with it. Unfortunate, as I love Dave Grohl.

There is much I enjoyed about this book It has certainly made me go back and revisit older records by the Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, and Nirvana. As well as inspiring me to go look-up so new old bands that I have missed. But do I know any more about the "real" Dave Grohl, who he is and what he thinks, what he felt and thought when he was fourteen, mum working late while he was going to punk rock gigs? No. (I don't even know if he went to those gigs with his mum's blessing, or whether he snuck out). A good book, an easy read, but probably no more insightful than any other biography until Mr D. Grohl decides to pen his own.
