Although this relationship had a bad start, these tow ended up being exactly what the other needed. I enjoyed getting to know them and am looking forward to reading Evan's story.

Still not a fan of Heidi.

I've never seen or read After and this was my first book with that betting trope, don't really like the trope itself but the book was really cute! Do not like Mac at all though.

“Fuck love. Build the empire.”

This book was a solid 3 stars for me.
Cooper and Mackenzie are from two different worlds. Cooper is a local who gets by with multiple jobs and living in a worn down house with his twin brother, Evan. Mackenzie is the daughter of a politician and a society lady, with income to spare and a rich boyfriend on her side. After an encounter with Cooper and Mackenzie's boyfriend, Preston, ends up with Cooper getting fired, he decides to get revenge. Steal his girl. Humiliate him in front of everyone. However, when a revenge plot ends up with Cooper catching feelings and Mackenzie falling for the guy she did not expect, plans change.

Was this book predictable? Yes. Was it enjoyable? Also, yes.
It was a fun, quick listen (I chose audiobook on this one). Great narrators. Entertaining story. All in all, a good summer listen.

Maybe 3.5 stars. I did go read book #2...

I liked this book and found it Colleen Hoover-ish. I always enjoy a book that had chapters from different characters perspectives.

Wasn’t my favorite from this author but it was a decent quick read. I personally think the major conflict should’ve happened much earlier. But this book was ok ish.

The premise of this book seemed like it would be my cup of tea. It was not. It was a very predictable storyline with quite cookie-cutter characters. And the big drama that happens (because there's always big drama towards the end) was also predictable and a little drawn out. I do like that the main female character was doing her own thing and not relying on her rich parents. She was a great redeeming quality of this novel. I also do like the banter between Cooper and Mac, which made the story worth finishing for me. Overall, not my favorite, but not bad.
