Cooper is not charming or sexy. He’s an asshole. Calls women “chicks” and objectifies Mac in conversation constantly. Why the hell is she smitten over him? Chapter 8 and he’s just constantly talking about sex. This works for him? Seriously? He’s no better than Preston quite frankly. When can we be done with the asshole bad guy and nice girl who can’t resist them trope?
2.5 it’s like an adorable, sexy hallmark movie - not too hard on the brain
this book was too cute. definitely loved to see how mac and cooper came to be. a solid cast of actors, along with a cute dog. even if the part that caused them to have “issues.” did annoy me a bit. a quick ish read finished within a few days. Perfect for the
this hurts my heart to do because I have loved everything else elle kennedy has released, but this story was not it.
it took me days to even get an inch into this book and then I had to put it down because I was so over the plot already.
the “bad boy” cooper and the “rich girl” mackenzie storyline was already so repetitive in only the first few pages.
basically, copper hated mackenzie’s rich arrogant bf preston and thought it would be funny to flirt with mac and get with her & make her break up with her bf of 4 years.
oh, and did I add that this was also a bet between his friends?
him and his “friends” loved to shit on mac and called her a clone because “she’s just a rich girl and how could she have any real life problems??”

3.5! I love Elle Kennedy but this had one of my least favorite tropes in it so it was harder to get through. But overall an enjoyable light read!

Mac and Cooper's relationship is super messed up and toxic right from the jump. Relationships founded based on an elaborate revenge plot will do that, I suppose.
Still, the chemistry between the two is really amazing. Mac is an entrepreneur who's part of the rich kids college crowd, and Cooper is a bad boy townie who hates the college "clones" with a passion. There's a little bit of an enemies to lovers vibe, but Mac doesn't realize she's the enemy... and then they become friends and the friends to lovers and mutual pining tropeyness abounds.
This also required some suspension of disbelief on my part, because I had trouble understanding how Mac is somehow a self-made millionaire based solely on her founding of two websites that basically sound like Reddit threads. O...kay? I also struggled a bit because so many of the characters were just downright unlikable - even Cooper and Mac at times. Mac's roommate Bonnie is the only character I was whole-heartedly in it for.
Still, both Cooper and Mackenzie some really great self-growth and come out the other side stronger individuals for it. And like I said, their chemistry is really amazing, with really fun banter especially when they're in a sort of frenemies stage of their relationship. This is a fun, flirty, steamy new adult college romance.
I'm not sure if this is part of a series - the title says it's "an Avalon Bay novel," so I'm hoping so because I'd REALLY like Bonnie's story!

2.5⭐️- I love some of Elle Kennedy’s books and this is not one of them lol what the hell was this?? From the plot to the characters everything felt really over the top and she made very weird choices in the dialogue she chose to include between characters and even their hobbies. I wasn’t feeling it.
