Not terrible. Definitely cornball! Am I a fan of the writing? No. Did you enjoy reading it? 50/50. I know it’s from there povs, but sometimes it’s hard to believe that all went down. And plz don’t say it’s fiction…there are dragon, anything can happen. Yes, that’s true BUT when it comes to my man I will be critical.
Overall, will I read the next book? Yes, it’s an addiction at this book. Do I think they’re cornet? When I read parts of it do I think ‘Why did I spend money on it’? Yes and yes… but you know what… you gotta let me live. I eat them up. AND the cover art is BEAUTIFUL. The main reason I want to read the books.
P.s. the mini twist ate. I was actually surprised and it got me hooked to continue reading on.

I can't rate this any higher than a 3, but I also can't quite rate it below, either. I struggled through the first two-thirds of this one, and while that's likely largely due to the fact that I'm no longer the primary audience for this book, I also really struggled with the characterization of Phillip at first. He's not quite what my younger self imagined, which is not actually a crime—I just didn't find him as compelling nor did I want to root for him.
He complained a little too much for me, and I think his character could have retained his drier, sarcastic sense of humor without making his primary personality trait bitterness. He seemed a bit boyishly insecure for someone who was meant to be at least 19 or 20, especially given the period. He needed to at least be counterbalanced with a more definitively admirable trait. "Sure, he complains a lot, but at least he wants to stand up for the little guy." That would have been nice. He just didn't feel very redeemable until the end.
However, that last third did finally pull me in, especially when Phillip kicks it into gear. I loved seeing how new plots aligned with the original story, and there were quite a few descriptive details that transported me back to Sleeping Beauty's unique art style. Some really nice touches and intentionality—that's what really delivered in terms of the nostalgia I was looking for. I also thought the dream mechanic was a great take; probably the best addition to the story.
Essentially, there some were good ideas here that I enjoyed, though I would have made different choices, especially regarding Phillip and the focus at times. Maybe a younger reader will find the characters more relatable and therefore more believable. Phillip did grow on me by the end, though, which made for a wholesome romance and a few laughs.

Sleeping Beauty has never been one of my favourite Disney princess movies, but I did enjoy this book. The magic training section dragged for me, but I absolutely loved the behind the scenes feel of the movie moments.

they’re the most unserious couple in Disney and I love them for it ❤️🩹 Phillip was my first love so I always knew he was my type and with this story i confirmed it 😂
he’s the most genuine prince tbh, he doesn’t want the weight of the kingdom on his shoulders, he doesn’t feel like a noble knight from a fairy tale, nor the hero, but for Briar Rose he want to be 🌹
he’s not a bad boy but a rebel prince and charming through his very constant sarcasm, which is his defens mechanism thanks to his relationship with his father, King Hubert, that made him feel he will never be good enough…
Sleeping Beauty makes more sense now!! Why Phillip ends up in the woods when he meets her and the sentence “once upon a dream” is practically the most important part of the story, making everything much more relatable and real and meaningful, giving another meaning to “true love” because true love is made and constructed 🥹 this movie was my childhood and this book is my dream come true
And i have to say, this is the second book I read from this series (i think right now there are only 3) but i’m impressed with the diversity Disney aloud in some characters and i love the independent and strong minded personality Linsey Miller gave to the princesses

This was an excellent book. Unlike the Little Mermaid which had a stronger plot so you had to be more rigid, the fluid nature of Sleeping Beauty allowed the author to really explore Phillip as a character and give one. I loved how depressed he was and how the narrative was about him growing into and believing in himself. This was a pleasant surprise.

A lovely book ! I loved all the characters. Sleeping beauty was always one of my favorite fairy tales it was done so much justice. I loved the romance, I had no doubt they were each others true love. The book had its small flaws. I was never scared of Maleficent. I wish she was a better villain. I also wish we got to learn more of the characters. I’ll definitely see if my library has the other ones in the series.
