I don't know a lot about Catwoman, so I was excited to start this series.  This was... less than I'd hoped for at the beginning of the series.
She's suffering from insomnia all because she misses a man... aka Bruce.  She's that focused on an "empty" bed.  Her sister is seen as the good one because she had the successful life where she got married.  The villain of the whole thing is a power-hungry WIFE of a governor who commits multiple murders (including both of her husbands), drugs her own son, and is just all around the stereotypical misogynistic view of what "power hungry" looks like in a women.
It was a very disappointing start to a series that I hoped would have a more powerful message.

I picked this up mostly because I love Joelle Jones, and her art style is perfect for Catwoman, sexy and smart, but not in the hypersexualized gross way that Catwoman can sometimes be in comics. As usual, I love Selina, and this might be a good beginning to Catwoman run, but I didn't feel any lightning strikes, though Jones writes more than competently.

The art is purrfection, and a few of the issue shine. I hope this book continues to come into its own.

Beautiful art and a solid story featuring Selina. Interested in seeing where this goes.

at first I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy this comic as if struck me as a "men writing women" kind of comic. the blurb on the back draws the reader in with "THE WEDDING IS OVER" and a lot of cat woman's inner monologue is getting over a break up. however I found the human interest aspect, which isn't always so explicitly included in an action oriented comic, quite refreshing. and of course, cat woman's drawn style is mesmerizing - she moves like fluid from page to page. I think I'll continue with the series.
