Cute book, it felt more like a coming of age story than a romance.

I chose this book because I liked the cover. I didn't know anything when I went into this book and it was definitely different that the other books I've been reading and reviewing. Thank you Netgalley and Forever for sending me this e-ARC.

I liked how Catherine developed from the beginning to the end of the story. When I started it, I didn't understand what was going on but then it clicked all of a sudden and the magical realism was pretty nice. This is my second magical realism romance (the first one was the Seven Year Slip) and honestly it was really fun.

I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a magical realism, found family, closed door, and reverse grumpy x sunshine book. This wasn't the best book but it wasn't a three star feeling so I would say 4 :)

This left me with mixed feelings. It’s definitely less a romance than general fiction focused on the personal growth and self discovery of the heroine, which isn’t necessarily a problem but I did feel like the romance was underdeveloped and bland for me. I did like the love interest, as I thought he was really sweet and balanced the heroine out more, but I still didn’t feel like I knew him that well. I also found being in the heroine’s head could get a bit annoying as she was pretty unlikable in a lot of ways and I couldn’t really connect with her. It was also a bit anxiety-inducing, not only because of her own compulsions, but the whole premise of losing her identity and how it played out was a tad stressful. However, I did really like most of the side characters who were fun and quirky and I loved the focus on community and family. I can see why this was compared to Ashley Poston’s work, as there’s a magical realism element and a focus on more serious themes, but this just ended up falling a bit flat, although I still enjoyed elements of it.

This book was a surprise. I was in a book slump before I started it so it took me a while to get into it. I almost was going to stop reading then the plot started to pick up and I couldn't stop. There was some things I wasn't expecting. Overall, I really liked it and glad I finished it.

This was funny, wholesome, and unfortunately a bit predictable at times. Luca's character needed more development. There was so much that could have been done with his backstory - had it been better put together, I think it would have made this book shine.

I don’t remember why I chose to read this book.. I was a bit bored but kept reading to the end anyway. It wasn’t a bad story.. it just wasn’t very interesting to me.
