The plot continues to be strong. My one comment is that some romantic relationships are a little too convenient. Like her uncle and bronwen, who also happens to be a faerie and crow… Book 2 was good storytelling. Kept my interest.
My big criticisms are—
Fallon is a pain. Like literally she’s very self centered and has no overarching goal that endears the audience to her. I am unsure why her friends care so deeply for her because she’s self centered, impulsive, and does things just to cause a poor reaction. Does she get somewhat better by book’s end? Sure…
The other criticism I have— I like that mates trope was somewhat done differently here…but there was an element to their slow burn love story that was missing. I just didn’t feel the passion.
But that cliffhanger? Brutal. Can’t wait for book 3.

Absolutely adored it, judt as much as the first time. Olivia Wildenstein is an incredible writer who doesn't get nearly enough hype.

What a second book!
Olivia Wildenstein just gets better and better and has me completely hooked with this series!
I was so excited for this book and it did not let me down.
The story just got more complex and with so many twists and turns, I didn't know what was going to happen next. And that ending was utterly insane! I was not expecting that and am shocked to my core! This story is filled with adventure, drama, love and passion.
The characters continue to be amazing and I love their progression, especially Fallon who really came into her own in this book. I again love her love and connection with animals!
I adore Lore! He is now definitely one of my favourite book boyfriends! I also love so many side characters including Cathal, Syb, Phoebus and Antoni.
The romance is slow grow but brilliant. And yes, there is some great smut in this book!
The writing is incredible. Has me hooked and because of that I read this book in 2 days! This series is seriously addictive.
Overall a brilliant second installment. If you love fantasy with a side of romance and smut then definitely read this series. Crows, Fae and witches! What's not to love?!

I had seen a review before I started this that mentioned the FMC is a bit of a punk (more or less) for the first half of the book. I can agree with that sentiment and am glad I knew that going in because it allowed me to give her space to grow (even when I was frustrated). Here’s your sign to push through!

There’s something really magnetic about Wildenstein’s writing that kept me enthralled. I usually like to juggle multiple books at once and you won’t find that here because I kept wanting to see this story progress.
I loooove Lore. He’s the perfect dark, broody lead that I know we all love. I thought there was great banter between him and Fallon and there was some solid relationship development too. I appreciated the slow burn aspect that let the characters shine first before steam was added in.
For a plot surrounding war I thought there would be a little more action (seems like it’s coming though!). I adore all of the friendships and tight knit group that has been formed over the first two books. This is of course a romance, but the other scenes play in so well that it helps surround the story with even more fullness.
