Thoroughly enjoying this series, I felt the first seemed to drag out a little in the beginning - but this one was full steam ahead from the start. Loving the different factions and magic, and finding out as we go that the known history may be a little skewed by the past victors...really looking forward to moving onto book 3.
there's just not a good enough reason to use the word "penetrate" like 28 times. i'm still not convinced that it was only 28 times because it felt like every other page. this would have been a 2-star review because i think there is still some merit to this book as a fun, semi-erotic story, but the unironic use of the word "unalive" is an unforgivable crime that cannot be left unpunished.
Alright, let me give you the lowdown on the sequel. This time, the focus was on character development, and I have to say, it was a refreshing change. The world-building was still top-notch. I loved the combination of medieval Italian kingdoms and Celtic folklore; it created such a captivating atmosphere. While the plot had less action and felt like a filler, the story arc kept me engaged. Despite Fallon's flaws, I'm eager to continue the series, hoping for a significant transformation in her personality and a more fast-paced plot in the next book. And I have to mention, the romance was swoon-worthy and added a delightful touch to the story!

A great slow-burn build up. I love Lore and the crow world and the use of language. A really well-developed, interesting world and detailed storyline, with some excellent smut.
