4.02 AVERAGE

Extremely disappointed.

I can see where this was an attempt to build Fallons character but she went from a naive, sheltered girl with dreams of grandeur to a whiny, childish, jealous, ungrateful bitch who refused to be at all workable yet whined and pouted when she wasn't giving full access to every bit of information in the kingdom. For an ADULT romance it read like teenage written fanfiction.

I love Olivia Wildenstein writing, but not this version of it. Hope you like miscommunication over 300+ pages. Also I never want to read "bruise-colored nipple" ever again.

While I loved and I think 5-starred the first book of this series... this one is a pretty lackluster sequel. I'm hoping for really great things in the next book to make up for it. What do we get with book 2? More Fallon being annoying, more miscommunication, more "I didn't tell you to protect you", more half-baked love triangle... yup that's about it. Needed more spice, and wanted more cool world-building descriptions...

This series and especially the book is my favorite fantasy series so far of all time. Fallon is relatable in a way that isn't overly annoying and the chemistry between her and Lore is unmatched. The scenes in this book make Silver Flames look tame. A few times I got the ick from her use of a certain word but the storyline develops wonderfully while still maintaining the spice, romance, and relationship building. I am upset that I found this series while it was still being written because the cliffhanger has me in shambles and I don't want to wait a week to read what happens next!

I was fully immersed in this sequel and couldn’t put it down. The characters and story have continued to grow into something amazing and I cannot wait for the final book to come.

DID NOT FINISH: 81%

Overall, it got kind of boring. Got to the spicy part and it was written so poorly that it kind of ruined the book for me. It was so cringy that I couldn't get back into it. The first book was much better.

3.5 ⭐️ I reread this book in anticipation of the release of the third book so here’s my official expanded review. This book is fast paced and filled with twists and turns. It took me 24 hours to devour the whole thing. Fallon really grew into a strong female lead in this book. Every challenge was heart breaking to read right up until the very end but she took it on and took control of her powers.

Fallon’s fae friends are my favorite part—especially Pheebs
