slow-paced

This book fell victim to the second book filler book. Nothing plot moving happened until the very end and it left off on a cliffhanger. I’m still invested enough that I’ll check out the third book when it’s out. But currently this isn’t worth reading until that point. The fmc was absolutely atrocious to be stuck with as she whined and did nothing but complain the whole book.

I find Fallon to be one of the most immature FMC I have ever encountered. She is so whiny and the poor me attitude is exhausting. She has the emotional maturity of a 12 year old.
She wants to cut off the mating bond aka the mind link but then keeps bothering Lore with it when it benefits her. Make. Up. Your. Mind. She is extremely selfish.
She prides herself on not being petty? Was that suppose to be a joke because she excells in the art of being petty. I wish I could be as dislusional as Fallon thinking that she isn't childish.
I love the story. The plot is wonderful so I keep hanging in there for the storyline. Bur I really wish the FMC was a little more mature.

Holy crow….wasn’t adequately prepared for this one

Um….where do I even begin with this book?!

I am still IN LOVE with the banter between Lore and Fallon. It is the BEST thing about this book.

Both characters tend to piss me off but for very different reasons. Fallon is prideful, stubborn, and naive. Though she gained a lot of life experience from her journey of releasing crows, she simply doesn’t have the knowledge of war or how other people operate to make adequate, informed decisions about anything.
Lore on the other hand has about 700 years of experience and controls, forces, and manipulates Fallon to do what he wants because he thinks he knows what’s best for her safety (to be fair, he probably does). What he doesn’t seem to care about is her need for autonomy, freedom, independence, and to feel like she has a choice since her life has always been decided for her.

Their relationship definitely deepens and the spice gets kicked way up in this book (though I’m not a huge fan of it so a handful of descriptive scenes is WAY more than enough for me). I can appreciate how the scenes were written and Fallon’s running commentary on what was happening had me laughing as well as enjoying this very real, Fallon-like play by play. It’s nice to see that sometimes not everyone knows what they are comfortable with, what they’re doing or expected to do, and that their partner respects them and doesn’t dismiss them.

The ending is something I feel like I should’ve seen coming but I was too engrossed to really think about everything.

Overall this is a well done sequel and I cannot wait for the third installment.
