Somewhere along the way this flopped into teen romance pit and with that sugary ending accelerated my visit to dentist by 2 months.
Good but could have been so much better. Gosh, I'm glad this won't be another trilogy.

Audiobook!
3.5 stars
This book dragged for me and I kept waiting for things to really happen. Overall though, I still enjoyed the story and the characters.

This book dragged for me and I kept waiting for things to really happen. Overall though, I still enjoyed the story and the characters.
So this was just meh for me.
While the first book was one giant set up of the world, I was hoping that this one would endear me to the characters and really let me submerge in the story. But alas, that did not happen. The massive world building continued along with dumps of histories that just weighed down the plot. It's hard to have an action packed race through space when you have to constantly stop and explain every little detail because as readers, we weren't given the option to imagine.
I loved the These Broken Stars series and was really looking forward to what this pair would bring next. But in my opinion, this was nowhere near the quality of that first series. I do believe that a lot of my non-enjoyment came down to the sci-fi factor. It's really hard to write a good and believable sci-fi book especially when you throw in the time travel aspect.
On top of the problematic theme, the characters were just all right. I enjoyed Jules because he was just a little nerdy boy trying to save his father. But I had a harder time with Mia. I get why she was prickly, but her decision making was just not the business. Instead of listening to other people and coming up with plans, she just assumed that everything she wanted to do was right and just ran head first into danger always.
Finally, the ending was just all wrapped up pretty in a nice little bow. There were no repercussions of anything to anyone. It all just went away and everyone was happy. It just wasn't believable. Makes me sad after the brilliance that was this writing duos previous collaboration.

Worst. Cliffhanger. Ever!!! I wanna know how it continues!
The 'Undying' is the final novel in the 'Unearthed' duology written by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner. The novel starts off, where the first novel ended, where both Mia and Jules are trapped abroad the Undying's ancient spaceship.
They are in a desperate race to warn Earth about the danger humanity has unleashed, but being surrounded by Undying saving Earth will be a lot harder than expected.
The novel follows the characters finding out who and what the 'Undying' are. The characters go on a journey to find Jules fathers. The final novel was an enjoyable read, I gave it a 3/5 stars.
