The story is of 3 women who get letters from someone threatening to kill them. The stranger knows things about their life. The book is divided into 3 parts for each woman telling their story. I haven't read any of French's books before and didn't find this book very interesting but I will try out others.

This was my first Nicci French book and I can't say I'm impressed. I liked the premise but the 3 women were kind of insufferable, especially the second one. It made it hard for me to sympathise. This book also glorifies smoking, which I am not a fan of. Don't smoke, kids.

This was a very solid Nicci French. I was a little disappointed by the last one I read of theirs', but this has restored my faith.

I really liked the premise of hearing from all three women, and seeing the pieces coming together through them.

I had figured out the various reveals before they fully unfolded, but only at the pace of the narrator, so I felt like I was figuring everything out with her, rather than being bored by things I already knew. The ending was also suspenseful and interesting enough that knowing these didn't ruin my enjoyment of the book.

In addition, the narration of the audio book was fantastic, and really added to the reading experience.

3.5 stars. At first, it was intriguing and hard to put down. Yet with its predictable plot and story line, my interest was elsewhere at the second half of the story. I skipped quite a lot of pages just to get to the end.
