Entertaining crime series so far. Nothing ground breaking or special, but a fun read with some good characters. Still very little actual romance. Very slow burn with some potential for future books.

I really enjoyed the second book in the Bree Taggert series. It looks like two more books are being published next year, so will definitely follow up on her then. The main reason why I gave this four stars is that the book slows down a bit too much towards the end. And I have to say I called BS on one of the characters being able to walk especially when I think they should have been blamed for things that occurred. Things I loved were the continuing development of Bree and Matt. That Leigh doesn't just have them jumping into bed together. They have feelings, but Bree is focused on her sister's kids which is right in my eyes. I always loved the kind of cop that Bree is. She talks about what their jobs are (she's now sheriff) and she slams two of her people for going overboard with a suspect. And she speaks to what it means to carry a gun and a badge.

"See Her Die" follows Bree Taggert. Now elected Sheriff she's trying to deal with putting together a department that lost a lot of men and the repercussions of dealing with the former corrupt Sheriff. Bree is also trying to deal with her dead sister's two kids who are still carrying wounds from her death. She's stretched thin and still trying to deal with her fear of dogs. She hasn't had any time for Matt Flynn for a while and both of them are wondering if she's ready to even begin something. Matt's sister asks for his help when a friend of her's grandson goes missing. Bree is called in to investigate when a caller reports a shooting. However, Bree is not able to find the young woman who was supposedly shot. Instead she finds a dead boy in a lake. Somehow the two cases are entwined.

So I really enjoy the character of Bree and Matt. They fit together and I like their investigative style. My only complaint would be that we don't get enough of Bree with her sister's kids in this one. She's on the go constantly and her former partner and now live in cook/help/friend is dealing with the kids for the most part.

The writing in this one was good, though the sections showing the killer (no name) were a bit samey after a while. The flow though does get impacted after a while. The book spins its wheels for a bit longer than I think it needed to.

The ending definitely makes me want to read more.
