The most horrendous, vile, fucked up shit I've ever read. Nothing compares to this book. Thoroughly enjoyed it (while clasping a hand over my mouth constantly)

Definitely the weirdest book I've ever read. Not really a bad thing, just an observation. It's not a book for the faint of heart; I'd pay attention to the content warnings since the worst things this book does tends to be done graphically. I want to read this book again in the future since it's definitely something I want to look at again knowing all the themes and while trying to unbury the metaphors. It's an interesting study in the difficulties of conformity and achieving true autonomy, and though it's through a Japanese lens, it does feel like it applies to most places. I will be careful when recommending this book, because it's definitely not one that most people should read. It feels very niche in its delivery.

This book was definitely an experience. I honestly didn't expect this book to be so dark so it was a bit of a shock. Definitely well written but my god is it gruesome. Heavy topics, a story that keeps you on your toes till the end and a very special main character. I'm still not certain if it's real or fake. To them at least it was real.

what to say about this book?

i never, ever finish books in one sitting, but i literally could not put this down. what an absolutely unique, gripping, heartbreaking, uncomfortable, visceral, fascinating story. mental illness, alienation, trauma, abuse, and survival in capitalist patriarchy are handled so well. despite the insanity of the plot, i found myself deeply relating to natsuki's distress with "the factory", and the feeling of literally being an alien. the ending was bizarre and cathartic and perfect.

i don't think a book has ever made me cycle through so many emotions in the span of a few hours. natsuki, yuu, and tomoya will stay with me for a long, long time.

definisi orgil😱😨😰😭😭
gue suka banget cara author gabungin fantasi masa kecil dan mabok gegara taking the idea of selfish gene too far lol

permasalahan karakter utama dalam memandang society mirip sama CSW. cuma di sini lebih absurd, jijik, dan ngenes.
suka bgt sama setiap twist di buku ini, bikin gue ngga nyangka apa yg terjadi. kerenlah, pokoknya such a page turner bgtttt!!

sumpah gue sedih bgt pas natsuki cerita alesan dia pake baju  item, trus pas emaknya treat her so badly. trus juga kaget pas dia cerita kalo dia udah nikah. jadi bikin kepo lahhh ni bocah kenapa???
sejujurnya, gue kasihan sm natsuki, suaminya, dan yuu yang punya background keluarga tidak menyenangkan sampai bikin mereka jadi somehow messed up

bintang 4,75 soalnya
cannibalism is just too much for me
