I read this because I enjoyed the Twisted series, and I loved the introduction of Kai in King of Wrath, and I was rooting for him and Isabella’s story to be different – but it’s getting to the point of copy and paste with every story and it’s getting boring.

This book has two points of view. The first is Kai Young, he is reserved, controlled and proper to a fault. He has neither the time nor inclination for chaos. He has a crucial CEO vote looming and a media empire at stake, the billionaire heir can’t afford the distractions. Unfortunately, Isabella is everything he shouldn’t want. She has purple hair and tells inappropriate jokes. She is chaos personified. Kai is tempted to break all his rules with every look and every touch, he wants to claim her as his own. The second point of view is Isabella Valenica is bold, impulsive and full of life. She has never met a party she doesn’t like or a man she couldn’t charm. But she can’t charm Kai, it shouldn’t matter. He is not her type – he translates classics into Latins for fun and his membership at the exclusive club where she bartends means he is strictly off-limits if she wants to keep her job. What she can’t deny is that underneath his cool exterior is a man who could make her melt with just a touch. No matter how hard they try, they can’t resist giving in to their forbidden desires. Even if it costs them everything.

I enjoyed the storyline and the characters. I liked the friendship groups that are forming with the ladies and the men like with the twisted series. I love the ladies supporting each other and you can see which stories are going to be next – Alessandra's and Sloane’s. I liked seeing Christian Harper making a cameo again, although I'm so certain if Christian Harper didn’t exist – Dante and Kai would be fucked because Christian is just fixing everything.

The issues that are arising is that this story felt very generic and bland and predictable. I just wanted something to different to be done and to stop the petty third-act breakup and the miscommunication, it’s not needed. These men run businesses and deal with the mafia, yet they cannot communication with their “love of their lives”. These stories are starting to blend together, and nothing is separating the characters and it’s just getting a bit meh. It’s literally the same – instant attraction, flirting, tension, sex, sex, sex, both keeping secrets, secrets revealed, hell break loose, break up, everyone moping, the true bad guy revealed, bad guy is gone thanks to Christian Harper, grand gesture and back together, soppy romantic sex.

Dominic and Alessandra’s book is next, and they are already married which is new, but I swear if the above happens in that book, I quit.

A .25 star comes off for Ch 37. UGH. It got better though and I got over it, the situation was redeemed but at the time I was annoyed.

This was a good next installment in the Kings of Sin series. I enjoyed the opposites of these two very much. Their relationship for the most part was easy going, had a nice flow, and sweet development.

i had a good time with this one, though not has great as i was expecting. it was slow at times & it really wasn’t until about the 50% mark that it picked up and i was truly invested. the ending, like the last 10%, felt very rushed — it was like all the conflict & outside info was left until the end & i didn’t like that. i LOVE khai&isabella, but dante&vivian still hold the number 1 spot in my heart.

⚠️: gun violence, death of parent, alcohol, misogyny, infidelity, classism, car accident, cancer, toxic relationship

This was such a fun read and a bit of a departure from Huang’s typical main characters. Kai and Isabella are complete opposites, but have been completely tied up in one another since they met. But with Kai out to earn his rightful position as CEO at his family’s company and Isabella struggling to find her purpose, their relationship gets muddy. Kai is the softest of the men I’ve read in this universe and I found that to be a welcome change. Isabella is pure chaos and self destruction; lovable yet a tad headache inducing. I really enjoyed the progression of Kai and Isabella’s love story as well as the set up for Dominic and Alessandra’s book (and maybe Clarissa and Felix?). One of my favorites from this universe.

Kai is probably Ana Huang’s best man yet tbh.
I wished they yearned for each other for a bit longer, I think they gave in a bit too quickly. It kinda started to fizzle out after they got together

I think this one actually had good potential but kinda lacked certain things to make it better
