This was pitched as a cozy mystery fantasy vibe but it was a bit too much all over the place for me. I think the FMC was fine but that was it. I wasn't overly rooting for her and honestly ended up enjoying Britt and Maxine more than Hazel. I also though was just in a reading slump by the time I started this book so I think that put it at a disadvantage to begin with.

This takes place in Moon Bay, Oregan and Hazel is working with her Grandmother in their coffee shop. Her magic is pretty strong, but her Grandmother isn't sure that she's ready to take over the cafe. She is often late and now she's got a boyfriend who she would rather spend all her time with.
When someone dies though and Hazel becomes involved, everything begins to change. This is a great book about found family, finding your way in the world and trusting yourself. I really enjoyed it and it was fun to find a new series full of magical beings like vampires, shifters and witches.
