This takes place in Moon Bay, Oregan and Hazel is working with her Grandmother in their coffee shop. Her magic is pretty strong, but her Grandmother isn't sure that she's ready to take over the cafe. She is often late and now she's got a boyfriend who she would rather spend all her time with.

When someone dies though and Hazel becomes involved, everything begins to change. This is a great book about found family, finding your way in the world and trusting yourself. I really enjoyed it and it was fun to find a new series full of magical beings like vampires, shifters and witches.

This was such a magically fun read to me. Witches, vampires, and shifters can be found in this little town. I loved the real feels it had also because I could picture so much of it... the investigations, parties, spying... the tears, the standing up for ones self by calling out. And wouldn't one love to be a "fly on the wall"? There's some "love" and childhood memories mixed in. But I would definitely recommend this to those who love a cozy paranormal mystery.

A decent listen/read. MC felt a little whiny at times, but overall a good story and a mystery that kept me guessing until the end. Excited to read the next book as well.

4 (magical and autumnal) ⭐s!

When I bought (well, got it for free - thanks stuff your Kindle day!) this book, it was categorized under "cozy mystery" and "romance".

As for the cozy mystery, it was perfect. The small town, the magics, the lovable side characters, and the autumn vibes? Per-fec-ti-on!

But was this a romance? Most definitely not.

I did like how there were basically 4 possible love interests throughout the books, so it was not obvious what was going to happen when romance would become a part of it. Of those 4, however
Spoilerone was the bad guy and another one turned out to be a literal demon
, so after the 1st book, it is quite safe to say who The Guy will be.

Looking forward to reading the next book(s)!

Hazel’s weird, quirky aura was kind of endearing in the prequel, when she’s still in high school, but in this book, she’s comfortably in her twenties, and just comes off as cringe-worthy and irritating. I enjoyed the story well enough, but it didn’t particularly grip me.
