This book was unexpectantly good.
I must say that I didn't enjoy the name Milan as I live in Italy and it was really awkward at the beginning, as I'm not used to reading it as a character name, but after a while it was fine.
Milan is strong and amazing.
As Raphael struggled due to his past husband, he treated Milan poorly, but as we discover his past, we start to understand him.
This book was about struggle: Milan struggled to adjust himself to his new home and this new environment, whilst Raphael struggled to accept his new husband.
For once I didn't read about a powerful and confident Alpha.
Unfortunately, there isn't much about their future, like when they'll have children or when they'll go to the South, so I hope there'll be another book about them.

I love a good Hurt/comfort story. An arranged marriage between warm, caring Milan and frigid Lord Raphael. MV created a unique omegaverse in which omega and alpha share a bond that can kill the omega if neglected. This unique dynamic created delicious drama as Milan suffered at the hands of Raphael. The comfort that came after the hurt took time and the forgiveness wasn't instant. As much as I enjoyed the struggle of suffering and love I'm deducting major points for plot holes and a hollow villain character. Like seriously why did Jack wait so long to enact his supposed perfect plan?? I'll tell you, it's because it would've worked and then the MCs wouldn't have triumphed. I just hate it when so little thought and purpose goes into villains and their plots.

i expected to find trashy omegavers with a lot of smat, instead i found a tender love story about broken people healing, about trust and the meaning of true dedication.

okay so i said before i am not the biggest a/b/o fan and that is still true, but nevertheless, I found this enjoyable. the a/b/o elements were subtle and not too overwhelming, and the parts I actually like reading about from omegavese (the bonds, and resisting-the-the bonds) were nicely done. I like my romances to make me work for the happy ending a bit, and I never stray away from a good heaping of angst and this had some DELICIOUS angst.
The parts I struggled with came down to writing style. n the beginning, vivancos threw a bunch of names out-- half of which never came up again, and some dialogue was written away through descriptions of conversations rather than just showing the actually conversations.
I will warn you that Raphael is a bit of a dick (okay a lot of a dick) at the beginning of the story and might be a little off-putting for some. His actions are explained as he isn't really an asshole for no reason and he certainly has to work for forgiveness from Milan, so take that with what you will y'know?

Loved the first half of the book, loved the whole thing. I felt so much pain there and it was magnificent.
Sadly, that ended way too soon and the fun parts (the pain and the groveling lol) were traded for some wholesome content that was not on par with what came first. Actually I found it kinda boring. I kept reading hoping that we could reach a new peak with the hurt/comfort trope but the last part of the book is more akin to a fairy tale (which is not an issue if that's what you're looking for, but I personally wasn't).
Still, the idea at the core of the book and the world building were interesting. It's like low omegaverse for people who aren't necessarily into the strong, dystopian dynamics that are usually connected to A/B/O AUs
