At first, Powerless was kinda fun. But it got cringey REALLY quick. First, Kai is annoying and a hypocrite. Dude, stop pretending you are above murdering a woman. “Who hurt you” my ass. Also, Paedyn’s not that much better. She’s a “cool girl.” She’s sassy, talks smack, and is really good at fighting. I’ve definitely never seen that female archetype before. Lastly, this book reads so YA. It feels like a bad amalgamation of 4 different books I read when I was 14.

3 to itak dobra ocena u mnie.
Dobrze się bawiłam czytając tą książkę, jednak nie zmienia to faktu, że niczym się nie wyróżnia i w trakcie czytania miałam ciągle myśli o innych z tego gatunku. Jak i również.. jak na mój gust, minimalnie za dużo nie potrzebnego romansu, historia byłaby o wiele krótsza i łatwiejsza do czytania gdyby nie tyle stron poświęconych głównie relacji postaci. Szkooda

I was going to give this 4 stars at first but it’s been a week and I’ve read 2 books since and I CANT STOP THINKING ABOUT THIS. So I’m giving it 4.5

Powerless was such a fun read. It was slow at times and definitely feels like a YA book (which I know that it is), but it was good. My only drawbacks were that 1. The author repeated herself a lot, specifically with descriptions of people which was kind of annoying, and 2. There were a couple of scenes that felt like they were pulled from other series’ like acotar (the scene where Kai has a nightmare… its cute and all and I was blushing for my boy Kai but it seemed too familiar) and from other pieces of work as well. I obviously know that authors are going to take inspo from other authors and that there really isn’t a lot of original ideas these days, but it was kind of obvious. Now, I did still thoroughly enjoy the book! I think the way Lauren wrote Kai’s and Paedyn’s character was great. Kai was very charming and very lovable and I found myself hanging on every word he said to Paedyn. And I felt like Paedyn was strong, smart, and a good FMC. I loved the banter between the two and their relationship was just very sweet and fun to read. With all of that said, I am impatiently waiting for the next book to release.

This book was so addicting. When i had to stop reading, i was thinking about when i could read it again. I loved the friendship between Pae and Adena. they were truly sisters.
KAI AND PAE's BANTER AND TENSION?? oooo yea i ate the UP. i did NOT expect this book to end the way it did, which i really liked because sometimes fantasies get a little repetitive.
I am forever thinking about Kai. He has set the bar WAY high you guys.
anyway, this is one of my new fav books, I will be not patiently waiting for the next one:)

I really enjoyed this book - it definitely gripped me and I’ll be continuing the series. It’s definitely more YA. I really love Kai! Don’t love Pae as much. I also feel like both lacked growth throughout the book it was kind of just the same angst at every turn. But I enjoyed the plot and the characters nonetheless. Hoping there is more character development in the next book!

Wow is all I have to say, I haven’t read a book like this in a while - just hope Lauren can work some absolute magic so Kai and Pae end up together cause that ending was soul crushing
