I've missed some of the preceding books although I'm generally familiar with the storyline. I'm sure I'll go back and catch up to give it some context. I enjoyed the story and the characters. Sometimes characters like Worf didn't have enough to do but that did give some of the secondary characters like Chen and Elfiki their moments in the sun. Looking forward to the next one.

An excellent read, with the release of new shows, and the novel continuity about to become non canon compatible in significant ways, we need some kind of climax. This book is clearly working towards that, setting up a finale.

This is all done in the B plot, which is the more interesting plot in my opinion because its consequences reach a lot further. That is not to say that the A plot is not interesting, The Enterprise finds a massive ship seemingly abandoned, except for some really eager salvage hunters. Turns out there is a lot more to the situation, as usual.

This could very well be the last adventure for characters that I have come to love, like T'Ryssa Chen who truly shines in this story. I will love the new shows, but part of me will mourn the discontinuation of this fantastic universe the novels created.

This is a hard book to rate. This is one of those where the people in it act how you wish those in power acted, vs the world we get. When actions from past books in the series have all come to a head, and fallout starts. In the foreground is a classic discovered a new alien species, with the fallout of the previous novels hovering in the background. So you really have two independent stories wrapped together.

Thoroughly enjoyed this story. The continuity of Trek literature these days is fantastic and to see the repercussions of past actions coming to light in new stories is highly satisfying.

As interesting as the political aspects of the story were, for me it was the situation that The Enterprise encounters in the Odyssean Pass that was most entertaining. Great new aliens and concepts in an investigation laced with plenty of action

Placed in the aftermath of the events in Section 31: Control, the book deals with the fallout of that book. Well written and always interesting to see what my friends on the Enterprise are doing.

Good story. It's what I expect from Dayton Ward but like most, I wish the subplot had been the main plot, but at least we learned more about the fallout from the Section 31 Debacle.
