I really liked the way this was written with both facts and stories from women around the world and of different backgrounds/orientations. It has a great way to light a fire for your own woman-ness.

This book challenged me, shook my foundations of thought and taught me so, so much. Although I don't agree with everything Eltahawy says, I'm so thankful for her ideas.

I truly enjoyed the narrative and passion behind this book. Whether you are new to feminist literature or someone who is well versed in the idea, there is something to be gained from the authors perspective and experience.

I really enjoyed the unapologetic fervor in which Mona Eltahawy writes about feminism in The Seven Necessary Sins for Women and Girls.

The book is a feminist manifesto in which Eltahawy boldy demands women and girls access their anger and autonomy to take down the patriarchy. She presents what she deems the seven necessary sins - attention, anger, ambition, profanity, power, violence and lust - that woman should learn how to harness without shame.

I also loved her global approach. Alot of the feminist works I read are U.S/Western Centric. It was refreshing and enlightening for me to learn more about different parts of the world specially as someone living in the U.S.

Unfortunately the book itself was a very difficult to get through. These are important topics that are important to me and even though I dreaded coming back to the book as I often felt bored. The writing felt clunky, and repetitive. At times it also felt rushed.

Holy shit. This book.
Often a measure of how affected I was by a book is how many sections of text I underlined and tried to burn into my brain. I think I underlined half this book. Especially the chapter, “Violence”. I am changed by it.

Read this book.

Hard to read because #Patriarchy makes my blood boil but it’s such an important book. I often feel like I am totally up there with feminism but throughout this book discovered things I ashamedly hadn’t thought of before. Insightful, fierce and powerful. I am ready for the revolution ❤️ Thank you for your hard work Mona x
