This book was hard to read, but the level of importance of part 3 makes me think it might be required reading for anyone who is dealing with serious mental illness in their family.

The parts about our broken system make my angry. The part about her family and the ways they've chosen to support and understand each other made me feel.... something big.

Meg's vulnerability and honesty is a gift.

This book will break your heart and infuriate you, and I think it should be required reading. It was personal for me, coming from a family where severe mental illness and suicide are all too common, but you definitely do not need that connection to feel something from this book. It is both a book that can make you feel seen, or help you to see. Will be recommending it for years to come.

3 1/2 stars. Well written although I feel there were holes in places which she tries to explain in the last couple of chapters.

An incredible memoir focusing on the serious lack in America’s mental health infrastructure. The author focuses on her own family. It hit home for me as I lost one sibling to addiction and have another that has serious mental health issues.
