I have tried this book twice now and I just can’t get into it. I don’t get the mass appeal.

The beginning set up a world we never real saw after chapter2 and that was disappointing, the middle of the book was wordy and could’ve been trimmed, and the ending was a little too predictable if you read a lot in the genre. BUT the writing was good, the magic system was unique, and the characters were hilarious. I’ll definitely read book 2 but this isn’t something I would recommend to someone looking to get into reading

DNF at 22% (page 133) … because this book is terrible. It is giving me nothing.
How this is currently my highest rated on my Goodreads tbr I will never understand because this book is appalling. How does this have over half a million ratings and an average rating of 4.3.
Are people seriously enjoying reading the same fantasy book again and again just different font
I can usually somewhat understand hyped books but I don’t get this one. AT ALL.
A usual ‘snarky’ FMC from the slums with a hidden power gets herself in a tricky situation where she loves to use violence and her bad mouth to get her further and further into a tricker situation and then omg fae appear. Ugh so many books start the same way and I’m bored of it, particularly when the author does nothing new but just relies on previously established worlds from other authors and tropes that they believe is enough to keep the readers from noticing the absolutely terrible writing and uninspiring plot….
Ugh I’m so over it ….
