I wasn’t sure what to expect but I really enjoyed this. Total Chaol redemption arc — finally. Yrene was amazing, and I loved watching her and Chaol’s relationship develop.

Sartaq and Nesryn were such a nice surprise too (also: the rukhin are so cool??). The plot twists were subtle but super satisfying, especially seeing earlier threads come full circle.

The ending hit me hard — Chaol finding out about Aelin’s letter, Sartaq nearly dying… emotional damage. Quiet book, but powerful. Wouldn’t skip it.

This was incredible. I did not do the tandem read. Story started slow, but really enjoyed everyone’s POV. It’s hard to love a good guy when you have so many other morally grey characters. This book really is the shining light so far in the series.
