i can't figure out if this book is depressed or optimistic. maybe both? definitely more character study than romance, although the romance is also important.

This author has a knack for pulling you to the end of a book. I always feel like there’s so much more story and then it just up and ends. And I don’t know that that’s a bad thing. In queer romance we’ve kind of been conditioned to always think that coming out has to be the end all, be all. And it shouldn’t have to be that way. Coming out shouldn’t need to be the climax of a story or the happily ever after. These characters don’t owe me anything. They don’t have to come out just because I want them to or am somehow convinced by society that that’s what I need to believe that they’re truly happy. They get to be together and love each other and that’s enough. That should be enough, and that’s what this author continues to teach me with every novel.
This was a gorgeous hockey romance with lots of pining. I adored how well rounded it was with a good cast of characters, and I loved that the boys got their happy ending. Catherine Cloud is going to be an instant buy author for me, I think!

finished Three Is The Luckiest Number . it was such a weird read. it was going through months like one chapter after another and i guess thats how it goes when youre an athlete . you play at home, go to another state, play and play until you dont or do make it to playoffs.
the beginning was almost like going through elliot and blake’s lives in bullet points . like it was almost pointless because they werent there for each other, but still goes through their life with each other in the back of their heads. and then it starts for them reconnecting again . it felt so good reading it . and then i was mad again because i liked reading the intensity of intimacy especially after reuniting like that again but i was like blue balled . it was weird again.
but talking about loneliness and being gay and also being an adult does feel like this . things going in a fast blur with maybe one or two things in your mind until it happens in front of you and then it changes your life again and you go back to the blur.
