This book gave a lot of insight into Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan’s relationship and I would recommend it to anyone that wants to learn more about these two important characters and about the prophecies of the Star Wars universe!

I echo other reviews that recommend the audiobook because it elevated the experience with the music and sound effects (I listened to the second half of the book & enjoyed it so much more)

I mainly docked points because it was hard for my to get into,(it took me an entire month to read)! It was pretty slow at the beginning and the plot was meh.

Excited to get into the next canon book (going in chronological order) which is the Queen’s Promise)!

I saw Cady coming from her first mention, but Fanry was shocking…
one of the best Star Wars books I’ve read!

"Master and Apprentice" by Claudia Gray is layered narrative, not only focusing on the master/apprentice relationship of Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi about eight years before "The Phantom Menace," but also Qui-Gon's relationship with his former master, Count Dooku, as well as Jedi Rael Averross (Dooku's other padawan). Averross himself is given his own master/apprentice relationship with the princess of Pijal, the planet where most of the story's action takes place. Gray opts to make "Master and Apprentice" a character study of Qui-Gon Jinn, delving into his opposition to the Jedi Council, his connectivity to the Force, and the origins of his faith in Jedi prophecies. All of these narrative choices add weight to the decisions Qui-Gon makes concerning Anakin Skywalker in "The Phantom Menace." Not all Star Wars books are worth a reader's time, but "Master and Apprentice" should be moved to the top of any reader's list if one finds themselves interested in the nature of the Force, the politics of the Jedi Order, or even some potential foreshadowed events in things to come in the Star Wars universe.
