Clear historical look at one of the most famous public hospitals in the United States. Bellevue opened in 1738 (yes, you read that right) to the sick and dying destitute residents of NYC. This book offers readers a history lesson on the advances in medicine, epidemics in the city, how Civil War soldiers were treated and so, so much more. Should be required reading for those entering the medical field.

I read an advance copy and was not compensated.

This was a really good non fiction book. I liked that it was both a epidemic/medical history and a history of this hospital. I will admit that there was a few parts that were a bit dry, but I also listen to it on audio for a long period of time. I feel that I should have read it in parts and over a period of time. The parts about the AIDS epidemic and 9/11 were so sad and i had chills listening to it. This is worth the read.
