Dracula was, funnily enough, exactly what I expected. In the way that I knew it would be absolutely not what I would expect, and I was right. Had the same experience with Frankenstein, was immensely entertained with that one, and now had even more fun with Dracula.
I knew nothing about this book going in, apart from Dracula is a vampire, has a castle, and there's probably some horror, but more horror to the people of the time than horror for me. And, like, all of that was true. Frankenstein back then turned out to be an extremely calm story with a lot of letters (well, just letters), and I kind of assumed this one would be similarly calm, and for me it really was. But where Frankenstein was sometimes more ... not exactly boring, because I was never bored, but something like that, Dracula was not. I had a really good time reading and listening to the story, and is was very calm, but it had also higher stakes, in my opinion, there was never a point where I thought nothing was happening, and just ... there was a lot more suspense.
That's not to say Frankenstein wasn't like that, I loved the story, and it was still a 5 star book for me, but Dracula somehow just entertained me more, I enjoyed the characters more, and the setting and scenery in general was just more fun for me to read about.
Also Dracula against the power of friendship is just a really great concept in my opinion.
Really entertaining, so happy I read the book, would absolutely recommend, 10/10 would (and probably will) read again!
