Notes on a Nervous Planet is light reading to remind us that our anxiety is at least partially the result of our modern world. Sidenote: I like when he sets up a few pieces of his writing using repetition that is reminiscent of the famous Trainspotting quote.

Matt Haig is a genius! He doesn't focus as much on mental illness in this one, more on how our world is changing and how this changes us. Insightful, sometimes laugh-out-loud funny and important!

I really wanted to like this. He doesn't claim to be a professional, which was part of its charm, but I felt advice didn't get much deeper than platitudes like 'be happy' or 'go on the internet less'. He's probably a nice guy so don't want to bash it too hard.

"We can feel calm in a world of fear. We can cultivate a world inside us, one that lives and grows, and gets us through."

Really enjoyed it

A nice palette cleanser. Nothing revolutionary or new in here but a nicely compiled overview of the journey of embracing acceptance and realisation of triggers and self knowledge when suffering with anxiety. I split this with reading and audio & liked the audiobook as it was like a podcast I guess, really laid back and narrated by Matt himself.

What a phenomenal book, solidifying Matt Haigs status as one of my favourite authors. The book is well written, accessible, thought provoking but in no way pompous.

Incredible, changed my perspective on life.
