The second in the Horus Heresy series and a great followup to Horus Rising. False Gods doesn't have as much action, but when the Heresy takes root it becomes so tense that the pages turn as fast as if you are reading the most exciting battle scenes. On the whole I dont think it is as good as the first novel, but the last 80 pages or so are fantastic. Not so much a cliffhanger ending, but one that leaves you hungry for more. I might just make Galaxy In Flames my next read.

McNeill clearly didn't read the first book. Every single character's personality is randomly different.

Good follow up to the first book in the series.

Not as good as the first. Didn't find the pacing very good.

A satisfyingly good read

I feel that I've been entranced into this particular universe. The door out has closed behind me with a deafening slam.

I couldn't be happier.

Amazing. REALLY liked this one! Can't wait to read more Horus Heresy!

So... this is where Horus actually fell. With good reason! Stabbed by a Nurglite artifact, given to freaking cultists for "Healing", snubbed by the Emperor... it's almost like he was set up to fall...

Still... Erebus you f__k!

Not as good as the first book in this series but clamoring for more story in this series

Definitely not the best in the series. The repeated use anachronistic story telling was gimmicky, and made it feel like the plot couldn't stand on its own if told in order.

I also feel like Horus' corruption felt forced. The single most important point in the book, and the whole series, didn't seem justified. Horus turned evil because that is what the plot demanded, not because it was the natural progression.
