Again, just beautifully written. This second entry focuses mainly on the family's teenage girls, and the frustration of not quite being an adult but no longer a child. EJH is as good at writing children/teenagers as anyone I've read. I want to read everything she's written.

Some bits were interesting but some others were not. I enjoyed the 1st book but I expected maybe too much from this one, set during the WW2.

What can I say? I loved the first volume of the Cazalet Chronicles, and I also love the second one. The writing just flows and there is a wonderful depth of characterisation that just draws you into the story.

I really enjoyed catching up with the family and seeing the younger ones grow up and become more interesting. The way family life is connected to the war stories is just genius. I also love the way Howard takes a key event and then shows how each of the characters respond to it in ways which alter their story arcs and take them to unexpected places.

I've already ordered Volume 3.

I love the Cazalet family. This time the book focuses on the girls’ POVS as they come of age during the WWI. Louise, Clary and Polly are the main characters we follow, but I think I enjoyed it more when there were more POVs in the first book. My favourite characters are Clary, Zoe and Miss Milliment. Cannot wait to continue with the next book
